Joe Remele is the drummer and percussionist of KansAZ.

From the Phoenix area, he has been playing and studying music for over 35 years.  He sang in school choirs and played the violin when younger - then he heard amplified rock music!  In his formative years, Joe became a fan of progressive classic rock and has studied the styles of drummers such as Jeff Porcaro (Toto), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Neil Peart (Rush), and Bill Bruford (Yes).  This has led him to compile an extensive song list pact full of the bombastic drum rolls, odd time signature crashes, and reflective commemorations of this musical genre.  Joe has extensive experience, having played in a variety of rock bands over the years; he also served for 5 years in the military (infantry).  When he heard Kansas’ Point of Know Return album (with Phil Ehart on drums), he found his musical home.

Joe knows that progressive classic rock roots are earned through the process and study of time and accuracy.  He believes that those to attributes are what makes this era of musical art extremely unique.  Joe will say that Kansas drumming takes these attributes to a different level - for it is one of the only rock style’s that completely overturns time signatures, grooves, and feel within the structure of  individual songs.

His ownership of this concept and dedication to the music of Kansas has made him not only the right person for keeping the time, but really creates our celebration to the majesty of the music of Kansas.

Joe also plays with the local Eric Clapton tribute band Eric and the Dominoes.
